Signature Programs

The Office of Global Education and Engagement offers a myriad of educational and celebratory programs to promote global learning and intercultural competence development. OGEE oversees a robust portfolio of signature programs and supports general programs within the Office of International Programs.


Country-Culture Workshops

The Office of International Programs (OIP) at UNC Charlotte is proud to present a new program of Country-Culture Workshops to enrich cultural understanding. Programs will include exploration of a specific country, such as the language, etiquette, cultural norms, political history, and other key nuances unique to the selected country. Each year, a new country will be selected to showcase the rich nuances of the country and culture. All faculty, staff, and administrators are invited to participate in the workshops in order to enhance further learning and strengthen relationships between our US community members and students from another country.


International Speaker Series

The International Speaker Series at UNC Charlotte brings internationally renowned speakers to the University to address topics ranging from economics to globalization to foreign policy. The program is a joint effort, co-sponsored by the: Office of International Programs; Department of Global Studies; World Affairs Council of Charlotte; and Atkins Library. International Education Week

International Education Week serves as a reminder that college and university campuses play a special part in shaping the awareness of our role in the global village. UNC Charlotte faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to explore the value of education abroad, the richness that is brought into our classrooms and departments by international students and faculty, and the benefits derived from all international programs on campus. Great Decisions

Great Decisions is a national program of the Foreign Policy Association. The Office of International Programs at UNC Charlotte, along with the World Affairs Council of Charlotte, coordinates a local community lecture series annually. The Charlotte Great Decisions Lecture Series consists of six weekly sessions and is an opportunity for citizens to meet, discuss and learn about some of the issues facing our world. International Career Panel

The International Career Panel is an annual event sponsored by the Office of International Programs and The Magellan Society, the young professional branch of the World Affairs Council of Charlotte. It provides an opportunity to network and hear several early-career professionals discuss the international elements of their careers in law, business, government, not-for-profit and education. International Festival

International Festival (IFEST) is a 40+ year tradition, this festival celebrates the music, dance, and food of UNC Charlotte international students and members of Charlotte’s international community. Over 50 countries from around the world are represented and attendance in previous years has been estimated at 20,000. It is located at and around the Student Activities Center (SAC) and admission is free. Visit the International Festival website.
