With nations such as Germany, China, and Japan dominating the high speed rail industry, the United States is slowly starting its own high speed rail transportation. North Carolina is in the process of developing two major passenger rail systems as part of a national growth in railed transportation. Dr. Hillmansen will present a broad overview of the global trend in railroad transportation, discuss the issues in transportation energy modes, and explore the challenges for the United States in rail transportation progress.

Faculty are encouraged to reserve space to attend with their classes and/or to arrange for an extra-credit sign-in sheet for their students.
